What Are Low Current Systems (ELV) and Why They Matter
Low current systems — also called Extra-Low-Voltage (ELV) systems — are the building services that carry data, signals and control rather than mains power. They typically operate below 50 volts, which makes them safe to route alongside people and IT equipment, and they handle everything a building needs to be secure, connected, safe and smart: video surveillance, door access, fire detection, emergency announcements, telephony, networking and automation.
In Saudi Arabia, demand for well-engineered ELV systems is accelerating with Vision 2030 giga-projects, smart cities and stricter building-safety enforcement. A building's high-current (power) infrastructure keeps the lights on; its low current infrastructure decides how secure, compliant and intelligent the building actually is. Getting it designed and installed correctly — and to code — is no longer optional for enterprise and government facilities.
Low Current vs High Current Systems — The Difference
| Low Current (ELV) Systems | High Current (Power) Systems | |
|---|---|---|
| Voltage | Below ~50V (signal/data/control) | 110V / 220V / 380V+ mains |
| Purpose | Security, safety, communication, automation | Powering lighting, motors, HVAC, machinery |
| Examples | CCTV, access control, fire alarm, PA, cabling, BMS | Switchgear, distribution boards, lighting, sockets |
| Risk profile | Low electrocution risk; high data/safety risk if mis-engineered | High electrocution / fire risk |
| Who installs | ELV / low current systems integrator | Licensed electrical contractor |
Both must work together — but the low current layer is where security, life-safety and connectivity live. That is our specialty.
The Low Current (ELV) Systems We Design and Install
We deliver the full ELV stack as one coordinated package. Each system below can be ordered on its own or — far more cost-effectively — as part of one integrated platform. Click through for the deep specification on any system.

One Integrated ELV Platform, One Point of Accountability
The expensive mistake on most projects is buying each low current system from a different supplier and each installation from a different contractor. CCTV doesn't trigger door release; the fire panel can't take over the PA for evacuation; cabling won't carry the bandwidth two years later — and when something fails, every vendor points at the next one.
Cloud Networks removes that risk because we sell it and we install it. One team designs the architecture, supplies brand-matched equipment, installs and commissions it, and maintains it afterwards. That means:
- Systems that actually talk to each other — access control, CCTV, fire alarm and PA integrated so an alarm releases doors, switches cameras to the incident and triggers the right evacuation message.
- One design authority — no gaps or overlaps between trades, no "that's not our scope."
- One supply chain — equipment specified to work together, not whatever each sub-vendor had in stock.
- One warranty and one support desk — a single number to call, a single SLA, a single accountable partner.
- Lower total cost — shared cabling, shared racks, shared commissioning and one mobilisation instead of many.
This is the "Complete Solution Accountability" model: consult → design → supply → install → commission → train → maintain, owned end-to-end by one company.
Saudi Compliance: Civil Defense, SBC 801 and Vision 2030
Low current is where building safety and code compliance are won or lost. For enterprise and government facilities in the Kingdom, an ELV contractor that doesn't deliver to code is a liability — approvals stall, occupancy is delayed, and life-safety systems may not perform when it matters.
- Saudi Civil Defense approval — fire alarm, detection and voice-evacuation designs are prepared, submitted and commissioned for Civil Defense acceptance, so your building can be handed over and occupied on schedule.
- SBC 801 (Saudi Fire Code) — fire detection, alarm and voice-evacuation systems engineered to the current Saudi Fire Code, including zoning and audibility/intelligibility requirements.
- SBC 401 (Saudi Electrical Code) — ELV power, earthing and segregation handled to the electrical code so signal and safety circuits stay clean and reliable.
- International cabling standards — structured cabling installed and certified to TIA-568 / ISO-IEC 11801, with manufacturer channel warranties.
- Vision 2030 readiness — systems specified for smart-building, IoT and central-monitoring integration, so today's installation supports tomorrow's analytics and automation.
We don't just supply compliant products — we take responsibility for the design submission, the installation quality and the approval, because we're the ones who commission it.
Our Low Current Systems Process — From Design to Handover and Maintenance
A five-stage lifecycle, owned by one accountable team. This is where a turnkey integrator beats a box-mover or a labour-only installer.
- Survey & Design. Site survey, requirement workshop, load and capacity calculations, system architecture and shop drawings — including Civil Defense submissions for life-safety systems.
- Supply & Procurement. Brand-matched equipment sourced and staged. Because we carry the brands ourselves, the products are specified to integrate — not bought blind from a catalogue.
- Professional Installation. Certified technicians install containment, cabling, devices and panels to standard, with proper labelling, segregation and documentation.
- Testing & Commissioning. Every system is tested, certified and integrated — cabling certified, cameras focused, detectors verified, evacuation audibility checked — then handed over with as-built documentation and user training.
- Maintenance & Support (AMC/SLA). Preventive maintenance, priority response and spares under an annual maintenance contract, so systems keep performing and stay compliant year after year. See our IT AMC & maintenance support.
